Hyundai Motor Group has all the advanced technologies such as wireless charging in new electric car

Code name NE

Hyundai Motor Group will be equipped with wireless charging technology, which will be applied to the world's first battery electric car launched next year, as well as V2G (Vehicle to Grid) and V2L (Vehicle to Load) and 400V and 800V multi-type super-fast charging functions that can freely take out electricity stored in the car.,It contains all the latest technologies that are applied to various vehicles.

The Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group held an 'E-GMP Discovery' event on online channels such as YouTube on the 2nd and released the E-GMP real thing.,The E-GMP is the first dedicated platform to become the framework of the Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation electric car lineup.,Hyundai Motor's Ionic 5, Kia Motors' CV (project name) and Genesis' JW (project name) will be applied next year.

NE's interior

With the application of E-GMP, Hyundai Motor Group has been optimized for electricization such as ample interior space, price competitiveness due to mass productivity improvement, and weight balancing due to large capacity battery installation, unlike modified electric cars based on internal combustion locomotive platform.

Unlike internal combustion engine vehicles, the floor is designed flat, so the space occupied by engines, transmissions, and fuel tanks is greatly increased to indoor space.

E-GMP

“The world’s best platform for electric vehicles, E-GMP, will expand its technological leadership to new car classes that require dynamic driving performance in addition to existing excellent efficiency,” said Albert Beerman, head of research and development at Hyundai Motor Group.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to use E-GMP to launch not only mid- to large-sized sedans but also high-performance and high-efficiency models from CUVs and SUVs.,The company plans to launch a large seven-seater vehicle with the expansion of its platform.

In particular, the electric car, which will be launched next year, contains all the latest technologies based on E-GMP.

Some vehicles are equipped with wireless charging technology for the first time in a battery electric car.,“We have a wireless charging part that is received from the vehicle side and a device that delivers electricity from the bottom surface with (external) infrastructure,” said Jeong Jin-hwan, managing director of the Electric Power Development Office. “We have both technologies and we have different application timings depending on changes in the market environment, but we will install (wireless charging technology) on the vehicle.”

E-GMP

In the future, E-GMP electric vehicles will be equipped with the world's first 400V/800V multi-rapid charging technology.

The existing 800V high voltage charging system requires separate parts to use 400V rapid charger, but the E-GMP is designed to use both high-speed charger and existing rapid charger without any additional parts.,This is a kind of power control booster technology that utilizes the motor for driving the vehicle and the remaining energy of the inverter, providing high compatibility for the use of charging facilities.,The 800V charging system allows 80% charging within 18 minutes, which means that you can travel 100km with a 5-minute charging.

“E-GMP is a modularized and standardized integrated platform, which not only increases the lineup of electric cars in a short period of time according to customer needs, but also improves profitability because of its high production efficiency due to a significant decrease in manufacturing complexity,” said a Hyundai Motor Group official.

E-GMP

The V2G (Vehicle to Grid) and the V2L (Vehicle to Load) function which freely can supply the electrical energy stored in the vehicles to outside are also mounted.,This can supply 3.5kW of power, which is larger than the supply contract power of 3kW of general housing, and can operate 17-pyeong air conditioner and 55-inch TV at the same time for about 24 hours depending on battery capacity.
